Rebellion: Introduction to the Cause (Level 30)

Step 1: Find Captain Herrick in Swanton Keep in Black Mountains North, and ask him for information about the [Rebellion].

Step 2: If Swanton Keep is under demon attack you can assist in its defense. When you are ready, continue speaking with Captain Herrick at the Keep about the [information] he as gathered regarding the Rebellion.
After you speak with Chamberlain Harlen he will send you to Swanton Keep. Port to Snowdonia and its a stones throw to Swanton. Captain Herrick is on one of the walls. When you speak with him he will tell you about the demon attack. About the same time some demons [grey to 50 but oj in some cases to 30 and yellow to 35] will show up and attack. You do not have to attack anything and if the mobs aren't grey to you, it may get you killed, since some mobs like to fly into the walls. After the demons are dead talk to Herrick again.
Step 3: Return to the King's Chamberlain in Camelot and report that Captain Herrick mentioned a [rebel missionary] is stirring things up in Ludlow and that bandits are attacking the rebel supply lines.
Go back to Camelot. Talk to Harlen to clear this part of the quest. Continue to speak with him and he will give you the next in the series of quests. You can use the information about rebel missionaries in Ludlow for the next section.

Rebellion: Answering the Call (Level 30)

Step 1: Continue Speaking with Chamberlain Harlen in Camelot about the [information] you recently gave him.

Step 2: Find someone in Camelot that will trade you some [peasant clothes] for the bag of coins from the Chamberlain.
Talk to the Pritchards. These are the /level gear people found down the street from the minstrel at the east gate. It doesn't matter which you speak with first. Go through the dialog then give Lucia Pritchard the bag of coins that Harlen gave you. She will give you shirt and pants. Make sure you wear both when you talk to either of the rebel missionaries.
Step 3: Find one of the Crimson Rebellion missionaries in Cotswold, convince him that you are intrested in joining, and persuade him to give you information about the Rebellion. If he won't speak to you, approach the other missionary in town and try again.
There are 2 Crimson Rebellion missionaries in Cotswold. You -can- make them angry enough to stop speaking to you. You will get several choices to respond to the Missionary. Some of them will make him mad. If he gets angry find the other Missionary. Being well informed about his organization is good [ref: rebel missionaries in Ludlow]. Sounding loyal to the king is bad. Neither will speak with you unless you are wearing your smelly rags.
Step 4: Travel to the Black Mountains North and serach for the bandit thug, Blake Gibbs. The misionary wants you to make a show of your loyalty by killing him. The missionary beleives Blake can be found in the pass leading to Llyn Barfog.
Blake Gibbs is within view of the Arawnite Messenger on the way to Llyn Barfog from Snowdonia. If you leave directly from Camelot you may have to port to Gothwaite then port from there to Snowdonia... Or you can ride your horse from the north gate if you are entertained by riding [I did that a few times]. There is a small group of trees at the south of the canyon between the two areas. He is grey to 50 and oj to 30. If you are a scout in hand me downs, you might want to wait a couple of levels. Otherwise he is a fairly easy kill. DO NOT wear your rags if you are killing things at even con or better. Many testers died wearing smelly rags because they forgot to change clothes for simple fights. See map.
Step 5: Return to the Crimson Rebellion missionary in Cotswold, with bandit Blake Gibbs' head, and make sure you're wearing your peasant clothes.

Step 5: Continue speaking with the Missionary in Cotwold about the recruiter [Terrance].

Step 6: Return to Chamberlain Harlen in Camelot to report your progress in joining the Rebellion. Give him the map to the secret meeting.
You don't have to give him the map. He will take it then give it back.

Rebellion: Spreading the Word (Level 30)

Step 1: Continue speaking with Chamberlain Harlen about the Crimson Rebellion meeting in [Camelot Hills].

Step 1: Travel to Gronyr's Farm in central Camelot Hills. Interact with the speaker in the barn when you are ready to begin.
Inside the barn you will see the speaker. Talk to him and he will start his speech. He is going to die so don't get too attached to him. A few NPC will show up to listen to the speech. Just as he is about to pass out the maps to the recruiter a couple of 'guards' from Prydwen will show up and kill the speaker, who has been known to repop before you are finished looking for the map in the next step.
Step 2: /Search the piles of hay in Gronyar's barn near where the speaker was killed for the map he mentioned he was going to distribute.
After the speaker is dead, search the pile of hay next to him. You'll get his plans. Currently in Hibernia you do not have to search. You get the plans when he dies. [of course thats not in Gronyar's barn either] In Midgard the speaker doesn't even die.
Step 3:Right click on the map in your inventory and /use it to read the directions. After examining the map, make your way to Terrance, the recruiter. Be prepared to give him the map.
Terrance is NW of the SI portal platform on an island in Avalon Marsh (about 31k, 17k). He shouldn't be too hard to find. Talk to him then give him the map after he gets rude.
Step 4: Kill Mrgrular, near 20.5k, 44k.
Easy to find from the directions given. West of the Bogmen Village and south, across the road from Caer Withrin. Kill him and bring the head back to Terrance.
Step 5: Return head to Terrance

Step 6: [Give speech in Cotswold]
When you return to Terrance he is going to want to test your ability to make an idiot of yourself. There is no way around it. He will give you 3 speeches and you will have to /use one, inside the boundaries of Cotswold. Once you /use you will start a speech on /broadcast that will be seen in Cotswold by anyone who is there. Doesn't matter which speech you pick.
Step 7: Return to Terrance in Avalon Marsh
One of the most annoying things about quests in DAoC is running back and forth. Take the portal from Cotswold to Gothe then port to Avalon Marsh.
Step 8: Report to Chamberlain Harlen about what you learned in the process of joining the Crimson Rebelion.
Yes, back to the old SI portal platform, port to Gothwaite Harbor then port into Camelot. Carrier pigeon, anyone?

Rebellion: Among the Dissidents (Level 30)

Step 1: Make sure you have your map and your robe with you. Exit the Great Hall and go through the courtyard gate, and make your way toward Camelot's North Gate.
[Popup will tell you to talk to Sir Hopewell no matter which exit you choose. You must talk to him before you leave Camelot or you cannot advance this quest.]
Step 2: Speak with Sir Hopewell.
Do not leave Camelot before you speak with Sir Hopewell. [inc opinion] this is the most pointless part of this quest. If it uncovered some part of the series to be used later I wouldn't have this opinion. The fact is that it just serves to waste time. If anything this should be an optional side quest. Does anyone care if Sir Quait feels bad because his peeps went postal on a rebel?
Step 3: Travel to Prydwen Keep in Camelot hills and deliver the message to Sir Quait
Sir Quait is standing next to the Taskmaster at Prydwen Keep. Talk to him so you can get this out of the way.
Step 4: Travel to the rebel town of Cragsbluff. It can be reached by following the directions on your map. When you get there, speak with Ammalyn Wheeler. Be sure to bring your map and robe.
The town is located south of where you killed Blake Gibbs. See map. Once you enter the instance you head down the road to your right. The town is at the bottom of a steep hill. Ammalyn will be next to a structure on your left before you enter the town.
Step 5: Find a way to obtain access to the building whre the Crimson Rebellion plans are kept. The townspeople may be able to give you some ideas to help you accomplish this objective without violence, if you so choose.
You can do this bloodless by:
  1. Talking to Fern. He will tell you that his mother is the cook.
  2. Talking to his friend, Cadabyr, next. He will tell you that his father is the Apothecary and that he has something that will take pain away or knock someone out for a half a day.
  3. Talking to Carrie Cooke [the cook] and get the meal for Anzorac. It doesn't matter if you get the meal for yourself or if you get it for Anzorac. Just get the food. She will offer you a quest to get some burn medicine. Take it.
  4. Talk to the Apothecary. He will give you the medicine for the cook
  5. Give the medicine to Carrie. She will only take a small portion.
  6. /use the medicine/poison and it will poison the food.
  7. Talk to the guard and he will unlock the door.
  8. Talk to Anzorac then give him the food. He will pass out.
  9. "Talk" to him again and you will get a key.
You can do it semi bloodless.
  • Get the food from Carrie, if you are about out of patience with sub quests and take the food to the guard.
  • Once inside kill Anzorac. Get his key.
Or..
  • You can just kill the guard and kill Anzorac.
After you get the key, run upstairs and right click the chest. That gives you the plans
Step 8: You have obtained the plans! Make your escape and return to Chamberlain Harlen in Camelot
Run over to Mognuse and /s Camelot. Or you can right click him. Remember that there is a porter here for when you find yourself in Llyn Barfog by accident and need to make a relatively fast exit. Now go to Harlen and give him the plans.

Rebellion: Race to Kings Crossing (Level 30)

Step 1: Continue speaking with Chamberlain Harlen in Camelot about the preparations the Crimson Rebellion is making to attack Camelot

Step 1: Gather an elite force for your strike on Baron Eddington's castle. Sergeant Connelly in King's Crossing will direct you to the castle. King's Crossing settlement is located north of the pass from Black Mountains North to Llyn Barfog.
King's Crossing is NORTH not south of the pass between N.Black Mountains and Llyn Barfog. Right now, Harlen tells you to go south.
Step 2: The Sergeant has asked you to help direct his troops in the defense of the town. Aid him in the [deployment] of his men. If you fail to defend the town, leave King's Crossing and let the instance reset before returning.
This step is tricky. I've only ever used the Center deployment or defend the gaps. I'm not sure right now if it matters. You must keep Sgt Connelly alive. Once all the bad guys are dead you should get a pop-up saying that you've been successful. I've had this work the first time and I've had to have it reset. Here are some hints that may or may not work.
  1. Make sure you have killed all the rebels. [blue to 50 but it is an instance so it scales] Check around the outside of the town.
  2. Wait. Some people have entered the town and started the encounter and gone afk and gotten credit. At least one person has gotten credit just being in the area for 30 mins or so.
  3. Log off to reset the area. Since it is an instance you should login at the entrance to the instance. Do not immediately re-enter the area. Allow at lest 5 mins for the area to reset. I'm not sure why it needs to be that long.
Step 3: [Speak with Sgt Connelly]
When you have defeated the rebels you will get a popup and your journal will update Speak with Sgt Connelly for directions to the mine. [even if you know where the mine is] Your journal will not update without the popup.
Step 4: With your group, enter the mines to the west of King's Crossing, high in the mountains. Make your way through the tunnels and into the keep. Fight through tthe keep's defeneses and face the leader of the Crimson Rebellion, Baron Phillip Eddington.
If you are level 50, this is probably the most difficult step of this quest, once you get past the greys in the mines, that is. Take the path west of the town up the hill. Enter the mines with your group, if you have one. I suggest if you are under level 50 you bring a group. The mines are full of grey mobs to level 50. There are some soldiers that run back and forth, from one exit to the other. Their path is from the mine entrance [east] to the Baron's keep[west]. So if you follow their path you shouldn't get lost. If I'm lazy and not in a hurry I will /stick one of them and wait until he gets to the exit going west, but only if the mobs are grey. If the mobs are not grey to you, the guys that are running back and forth will baf if you do not clear the mobs you are fighting. Your strategy will depend on your level, your group size, and your class, of course. The mines are NOT an instance. So the mobs will never scale with the size of a group, and you can be solo in King's Crossing and enter the mines to wait for others also soloing the defense, to join up with you for the Baron.

The Baron's keep is an instance. It will be reset if everyone in the group exits to the mines and waits 5 or 10 mins. This also means if you get wiped the instance will probably be reset by the time you get back.

Enter the keep zone and buff up. It will be reset, eventually, if everyone in the group exits to the mines and waits 5 or 10 mins. This also means if you get wiped the instance will probably be reset by the time you get back. Some of the instances you can /release entrance so your rezzer can re-enter the dungeon quickly to get your team back up. Remember if you do that you will be rez sick and have lost some con. But it might be better for you, if you are the last of a group and need to get back into the zone before it resets. You'll have to assess the situation yourself.

When you enter the zone you will be in a box of a room. In the corner behind you is a trap door to the mines. If you back up you could exit the zone. It is marked with the teleporter blue circles on the ground. When you are buffed up, open the door to the courtyard and venture into aggro.

Please note: The spawns of mobs in this particular instance has changed frequently over a weeks time. This is a basic layout for the time being.

View Courtyard Layout

Notice in the picture of the courtyard, you see two groups of mobs next to the door. There are also 2 groups on the other side of the fountain. The 2 groups on the other side of the fountain, behind the groups near the door have 3 rebel archers [green to 50] and one veteran sergeant [blue to 50]. The veteran sergeants may or may not be archer mobs. They were originally but last time I went through the dungeon they were strictly melee. Also, the green archers will be aggro. To be on the safe side, kill them all. I like to work from the back and kill the veterans first then kill the archers. If you are a cloth caster you may not have that luxury. I've also been with plate tanks that just kill the blue cons then run up to the Baron. That won't work for everybody though. I find it a good idea to clear as much aggro as you can find before attacking the baron. While the mobs for a solo 50 are no higher than blue, they can aggro from range. One green archer might not hurt. But 6 green archers and 3 fireballing wizards might. After the back of the courtyard is clear I take out the veterans near the keep wall. You may draw aggro from the roof here. If you do, watch the damage you are taking. Archers inside have been known to fire through the walls. If you have too much aggro, exit the area to the mines. Wait long enough to heal a bit. Do not wait more than 3 minutes or you risk resetting the dungeon. Re-enter the keep and wait to see if you still have aggro. If not open the door. The mobs that aggro'd you might be in the courtyard.

Once the courtyard is clear attempt to drag a few of the mobs from the inside, into the courtyard. It'ss a little tricky since you have to keep opening the door and taunting/firing on the mobs inside. Clear the bottom floor then work up to the second. Normally, there are two green aggro swordsmen and 2 blue veteran sgts. After these are dead I willgo up the stairs past the baron to the doors at on that floor and make sure the aggro on the roof is cleared. Check both sides of the roof.

Now that the aggro is cleared, rush the Baron. He is like a keep lord in that you have to be in melee range to attack him. And he will aggro you if you get too close. That makes it hard for ranged attackers but root, slam or qc mez helps. You should have a tactic for your character class. When the Baron gets to 40% - 60% hp he will run up to the roof. If you didn't clear the aggro you'll get a chance to do it now. The Baron isn't a real problem. It's the half dozen archers lurking around the walls that are the pain. If you are an armsman or paladin you will probably wonder why people are complaining about this fight.

This section was written from the view of someone who is not wearing plate and needs a little time and tactic to work into the final steps. You should get a cloak when you kill the Baron and a key. Right click on the chest that he was 'guarding' and you have the plans.
Step 6: Return to Chamberlain Harlen in Camelot with the letters and report your victory. Be wary of refugees and angry soldiers on your teturn trip through the mines.
The guys in the mines won't be any different than the ones you saw coming in. There is a porter in the town of King's Crossing so you don't have to trek back all the way from Llyn Barfog.

This completes your level 30 quest. If you are level 40 or higher you may continue with the next Chapter.
