Classes of Camelot Frequently Asked Questions
How do I kill stuff?
Well, are you a caster or a melee class? If you are a caster, head over to the Spells Panel, grab your spell, and make it an icon on your quick bar. If it's a buff spell, target yourself and cast it.
Now, I hope you remember what you set your attack key to when you set up your Keyboard. If you don't remember, or skipped Keyboard setup, now is a good time to go do that, or you could always type /keyboard to see how your keys are set-up, but you still can't change them without going to the keyboard setup screen. You can type /quit to leave the game and setup the keyboard.
So, find a monster. Walk outside whichever town you started in, and click on the little critters running around until you find one whose name is blue in your target window, if you're feeling frisky, go ahead and skip ahead to the '/consider this' section, read up about /con, and then come back here. If you are a caster, cast your nuke spell on it by clicking on the Hotkey we just made, and it will run at you. You might be able to nuke it a few more times before it gets to you. If you are a melee class, or just don't have a nuke yet, run over to the monster. Hit your auto-attack button when you get near it, and watch. Your character will swing his weapon, and the monster will bite you, but you should be able to kill it just fine. When it's dead, if it drops a bag on the ground, make sure you double-click on the bag to pick it up. Or, you can set up Target Nearest Object and Get Object keys and use them. I have 'O' set up as target nearest object and 'P' as pick it up. So, whenever bags drop, I just hit 'O' and 'P' repeatedly until I've picked everything up.
How does the /con system work?
Well, first you never have to type in /con again. What happens is that everything in the game is level based, and everything's name will appear in different colors. Grey is much below you, green is low, blue is just below you, yellow is even to you, orange is just above you, red is high, and purple is much above you.
Wait... /con works on more than just monsters now?
Yes, but remember you don't have to type /con, the name will just be a different color. For example, when you go to a merchant and look at gloves, those gloves with the green name are pretty weak for you to be using - you should look for some yellow or blue named gloves.
O.K. I give, what're all these +'s and -'s floating around?
The +'s and -'s are a /con system for the colorblind. Grey = ---, Green = --, Blue = -, Yellow = nothing, Orange = +, Red = ++, Purple = +++.
What else is there to do?
Explore! Kill stuff, do quests, or tasks, make friends, anything you want. The first few levels you will not need to stray far from your starting town to find stuff to kill. One word of advice, however, you should start on quests early, so talk to everyone you meet! Some of the earlier ones are prerequisites for later ones.
Wow I leveled up! What do I do now?
Once you level up, you should go visit your guild trainer to get any new quests he or she may have for you, and to train with the new skill points that you got when you leveled. A good thing to do is always have an idea of what you want your character to be good at, and only train in those things, because you can't train in everything. There's more on this in the section about Specialization.
