Labyrinth Champion Quests: This Time, Without A Weapon
Albion Chapter 1 - Emissary
Proof of Strength
Finding the Fragments Meeting of Blades Consulting The Keeper The Champion Quests begin at your guild's leader in Camelot... Sir Amren says, "Greetings, Urimoo. It's good to see you. Your presence is requested in the King's throne room. You are to meet with Chamberlain Harlen as soon as [possible]." Sir Amren says, "I believe it may have something to do with the sudden arrival of the Minotaur through the lands, but you didn't hear that from my lips." Will you speak with Chamberlain Harlen in the throne room? Sir Amren says, "Chamberlain Harlen will be pleased with your [decision], Alb Mauler." Sir Amren says, "The Minotaur seem to be a very fearsome and proud race - I surely hope they're here on neutral terms. If not, I hope they're on our side. Regardless I shouldn't waste anymore of your time as you are needed elsewhere. Please hurry along to Chamberlain Harlen in the throne room." At this point you go talk to Chamberlain Harlen. After accepting the quest, he will give you some background... Chamberlain Harlen says, "A short time ago, strange portals opened throughout the realm and the Minotaur suddenly appeared. The Minotaur claimed that they once inhabited our lands and only left through the portals to a distant land to escape a vicious war. Some of our scholars have found evidence they once lived here, but they were thought to have been wiped out in a great [cataclysm]." Chamberlain Harlen says, "I'm not sure their story should be trusted and I'm deeply concerned that they may not be telling us everything they know. However, that is not why I have called you. One of my oldest friends and advisors sent me word that he's had strange [visions] lately." Chamberlain Harlen says, "He also mentioned you by name and asks that you be sent to meet him. I would deeply appreciate it if you would travel to Leornere Innabordes and meet with Gorvinius." Will you assist Chamberlain Harlen and speak with Gorvinius? Chamberlain Harlen says, "Fantastic! Find out what his visions have told him and report back to me. Oh and I should probably tell you how to [find him]." Chamberlain Harlen says, "Travel to Gothwaite Harbor via the portal in Cotswold. Once there travel to the southeast corner of the Isle of Glass. When you see the blue glowing portal on the ground you know you have reached the entrance to his retreat." Travel to the Isle of Glass (via whatever means you want, you don't have to go through the portal in Cots) and head to 59300, 57000 - near that location is a blue portal on the ground and a vaguely cloud-like spell effect above it. Enter... You'll find yourself in a familiar location, assuming you did the Darkness Rising Champion Quests - it's a place much like Anataeus' home. Travel forward to the main room, where you will see Gorvinius lying on the ground. Right click on Gorvinius... Gorvinius appears burnt and charred, just like the desk beside him. The body is still warm, but there appears to be no hope of revival or resurrection. There will be no speaking to Gorvinius of what his visions entailed now. Perhaps something from his desk may be salvaged. Right-click on the desk near Gorvinius. You examine Gorvinius' desk to see if he wrote any of his visions down or at least what he planned to tell you. You discover some charred paper fragments with notes on them along with what appears to be his teleportation stone. Use the teleportation stone, and return to Chamberlain Harlen. Chamberlain Harlen says, "He's dead? How can this be? His death is a [great loss] to our realm." Chamberlain Harlen says, "Were you able to find any notes that may have mentioned his visions? Please hand them to me." Hand him the charred notes you recovered. Chamberlain Harlen says, "At least you were able to recover some of his notes. Hopefully I can gather some information from the fragments and [learn something] of the reason for his death." Chamberlain Harlen says, "I can't say that Gorvinius' notes are entirely clear. Most of them were destroyed and what little remained is more confusing than helpful. I can only make out a few select words: Treacherous, Minotaur, War, Lies and then [your name]." Chamberlain Harlen says, "I ask you not to come to any hasty conclusions about this, but only to be wary instead. These words could mean anything. However, I believe it may be time for you to meet the Minotaur High Consul." Are you prepared to speak with the High Consul for Chamberlain Harlen? Chamberlain Harlen says, "I knew I could [rely] on you, Urimoo. Your assistance to Albion is appreciated." Chamberlain Harlen says, "If he speaks the truth, he has a mission of great importance that will require the assistance of our realm's greatest champions to complete. I have told him that you are such a champion and to expect your [arrival]." Chamberlain Harlen says, "Please pay close attention to his words as I would like for you to report back to me regularly on any major tasks that he asks you to complete." Now, go into the throne area - High Consul Herleagis is against the wall to your right after you enter. Speak to him. High Consul Herleagis says, "You must be the great champion I was told about. I am Herleagis, High Consul of the Korazh Clan, descended from the High Chieftain Maghras. [For the good] of both our races, you must help me." High Consul Herleagis says, "The Uruz, which is our own word for Minotaur, once lived throughout the lands you now call Albion, Midgard, and Hibernia. We were a proud people, passing down our heritage, culture, and very memory from father to child. One day our gods appeared to us and asked us to build great relics of power in their name. We finished them with haste; however there was a great [betrayal] that led to civil war between our clans." High Consul Herleagis says, "When outside forces threatened to destroy us all, we were forced to leave our homes through mystic portals to distant lands. Before we did, we sealed the relics away with magical wards that would return us to our homelands should they be [breached]." High Consul Herleagis says, "I would send you to investigate why we have been summoned by the wards, but I must first know that you are truly prepared to deal with the dangers of this mission, as it will pit you against many dangerous [adversaries]." High Consul Herleagis says, "With the return of the Uruz to these lands, both of your realm's enemies, Midgard and Hibernia, have already begun sending explorers far and wide in search of our lost relics. I have heard that the explorers themselves are weak, reconnoiterers whose job is only to observe. They are armed, but hardly a match for a true champion. I would expect you to kill many before judging you prepared to meet the dangers of my mission. However, they are not the only [enemy to consider]." High Consul Herleagis says, "If you truly wish to impress me, you will slay more worthy enemies: great warriors and powerful mages, foes your enemy realms may even call their champions. These would be a true [challenge], unlike mere explorers." High Consul Herleagis says, "A good warrior does nore fight on more fronts than necessary, so Perizor the god of battle teaches. To prove your worth you must choose who you will fight, the [explorers] or the champions of the [enemy realms]." (Note: Choosing the [enemy realms] option will require you to kill enemy players in RvR combat to complete the quest. If you do not wish to directly participate in RvR, you will need to choose the [explorers] option, which requires the defeat of NPCs.) I suggest choosing the explorers option - it will require you to kill NPCs rather than players, which means that it can be done without having to worry about finding enough enemies, or whether you'll lose... only choose the RvR path if you really want a bit of RvR mixed in with your quest. The explorers option will be faster and easier. But go out and kill either 16 explorers, or 8 enemy players. The explorers can be found in camps scattered across the enemy realms' frontiers. They are yellow con and have a fairly fast respawn, so won't take long to kill. High Consul Herleagis says, "Then take this Ektakten. It is a small untainted remnant of Perizor's battle-magic. Carry it with you and slay sixteen explorers, whether from Midgard or Hibernia I care not. It will feed on your every victory in honorable combat and pay witness to your strength." High Consul Herleagis says, "You have returned quicker than I expected. Have you accomplished the task I set you? Then give me the Ektakten. It will bear out the truth of your words." Hand him the Ektakten. At this point you will get your reward for Emissary: Proof of Strength - 14,000,000,000 (that's 14 BILLION) experience and the 7000 Champion Points it entails, as well as 414 gold. High Consul Herleagis says, "You have been successful in your task. You have done your job well. You are truly above what I expect from most of the people here. I am ready to give you a [real] task now." High Consul Herleagis says, "In your conflicts in the frontiers, you have surely visited the island of Agramon. This island was once the Uruz capital. Nothing is left of our city on the surface, but our Labyrinth below still [remains]." High Consul Herleagis says, "This is where we stored our relics before the island was sunk into the ocean. We need to know why the wards that protected the Labyrinth have broken, bringing us back to these lands." Will you assist High Consul Herleagis in discovering why the Labyrinth wards have been broken? High Consul Herleagis says, "The wards themselves were inscribed into large stones at the entrances and key points of the Labyrinth. What I want you to do is search Agramon for the nearest entrance to the Labyrinth and look for any remaining pieces of the entrance [wards]." High Consul Herleagis says, "These are extremely important as the magic within and evidence nearby could tell us something of how they were broken. Return to me with anything you find as soon as possible." Go to Agramon and find the entrance to the Labyrinth on the Alb side - it's marked on the map with a dungeon symbol. Go into the tower and look for a clump of rocks called 'Broken Ward Stones'. Right-click on one and collect Ward Stone Fragments from it. These chunks of stone appear to have come from the nearby archway. You can barely make out chipped remains of some sort of rune on one. As you gather up all the fragments you can for the High Consul, you notice a number of hoofprints mixed in with the normal footprints leading into the Labyrinth. Talk to Chamberlain Harlen about the hoofprints you saw. Chamberlain Harlen says, "Hoof prints? The High Consul told us they hadn't tried to venture back into the Labyrinth yet. I'm hesitant to let the High Consul have all of the fragments just yet. Let me keep this one for further study. Report back to me how he reacts." Talk to High Consul Herleagis, and give him the ward stone fragments you still have. High Consul Herleagis says, "Were you able to find the ward stones?" High Consul Herleagis says, "My suspicions are confirmed then. I'll take these fragments back to my people, but they hardly need to be examined now. This is obviously the work of one of the [other clans]." High Consul Herleagis says, "You see, before we left these lands, the Uruz were divided into four clans. The first... is lost and I would rather not speak of them. My own clan, the Korazh, have always been an honorable [people]." High Consul Herleagis says, "The Graoch and the Deifrang were greedy and corrupt, always hungry for more power. It was they who started our civil war and their iniquity that brought the catastrophe that drove us away. One of them must be after the relics now." During this conversation you will have been rewarded for completing Finding the Fragments - with 10 billion experience (5000 champion experience) and 310 gold. Now you begin Emissary: Meeting of Blades. This step requires you to kill either enemy players or soldiers on Agramon. The soldiers are located near the milegate to the enemy realms - Hibernian soldiers will be in stands of trees near the western Alb milegate, while Midgard soldiers will be in stands of trees near the eastern Alb Milegate. If you choose to kill soldiers, it may take multiple kills before you receive a map - killing a player on Agramon should give you a map the first kill. When you have the map, return first to Chamberlain Harlen. Chamberlain Harlen says, "Yes, Urimoo? What news do you have for me?" Chamberlain Harlen says, "What do you have to report?" Hand the Chamberlain the map you got from the enemy player or soldier. Chamberlain Harlen says, "I don't recognize this language at all. Then again, I haven't seen any Minotaur writing. Maybe his suspicions really are correct. I feel I should warn you that the [negotiations] between the King and the High Consul have not been going well." Chamberlain Harlen says, "The King doesn't trust the Minotaurs and fears that they may be trying to distract our attention from something greater. He also fears that they could be leading one of his greatest champions into a trap. Even if it isn't of the High Consul's own doing, but that of one of the other clans, the [consequences] would be the same. Our realm cannot afford to lose one such as you." Chamberlain Harlen says, "Soon, I suspect that what the High Consul could have you doing will lead you into extreme danger. Particularly if he sends you into the Labyrinth itself, you may want to think about bringing friends with you. For now, go ahead and take the map to the High Consul. Do whatever he asks next, but please, be careful. Report to me once again after you have finished." Talk to the High Consul. High Consul Herleagis says, "You've returned! Wonderful! Hand me the Ektakten." Hand him the Ektakten. High Consul Herleagis says, "Ah, the Ektakten's power has grown measurably. Excellent, Urimoo, excellent. Now, show me what evidence you have found in the hands of our enemies. Hand him the map. High Consul Herleagis says, "Hah! I knew it. The [writing] here is in the Uruz language. It still doesn't tell us which of the other clans is at fault, but we shall discover that shortly." High Consul Herleagis says, "The writing says to meet them at one of the three meeting places agreed to by the entrances to the Labyrinth. The holder of the map was likely on their way there, so travel as fast as you can back to Agramon and check into these three meeting places. Slay anyone you find there and if any Uruz are in attendance, bring me their horns so I can finally know what clan is behind this." There are three campfires on Agramon, each near one of the entrances to the Labyrinth. The one by the Albion entrance is at 52600, 10400, and standing around the campfire are two treasure hunters. Kill them. From each you will get a Minotaur horn. When both are dead, return to High Consul Herleagis and give him the Pair of Bloody Minotaur Horns. High Consul Herleagis says, "Were you able to obtain any horns from the rival clans?" High Consul Herleagis says, "This doesn't make any sense. This horn is from a member of the Graoch clan, but this other horn is from a member of the Deifrang clan. Could they have been meeting with each other to plot their treachery or were they both betrayed individually? I must consult with the leaders of my clan about this immediately. I will ask Chamberlain Harlen to let you know when I am ready to speak to you again." Speak to Chamberlain Hardlen, and receive your reward - another 14 billion experience and 7000 champion experience, and another 414 gold. Chamberlain Harlen also begins Consulting the Keeper... Chamberlain Harlen says, "Perhaps the High Consul didn't know as much as he thought he did. I think it's time for us to get some [answers for ourselves]." Chamberlain Harlen says, "I want you to take the fragments of Gorvinius' notes to Anataeus. Since his ordeal with Geryon, he's actually been less reclusive. Knowing that his isolation made him easy to kidnap in secret, he wishes to be seen more often by his friends now. You can probably find him in the castle." Chamberlain Harlen says, "Anataeus's magical abilities should be able to glean more useful answers from the notes than the mere words can give us. Return to me after he has had a chance to look at them." Go talk to Anataeus. He can be found on the upper level of Camelot Castle. Anataeus says, "Oh Urimoo, it's so good to see you again! What do you have there? Hand them over and I'll take a look." Hand him the charred notes. Anataeus gasps the moment the Charred Note Fragments touch his hands. He clutches them tightly with widening eyes, his arms beginning to shake. The words on the paper begin to glow before bursting wildly into flame! Looking up, you are shocked to see Anataeus still standing in front of you, looking [grim]. Anataeus says, "You have just seen something of how Gorvinius died. I always told him to be careful of where he let his mind's eye wander. Demon lords do not appreciate when their realms are [intruded upon]." Anataeus says, "That's right, demons. It would seem that Gorvinius saw something in his visions that the denizens of Darkness Falls did not want him to see. I do not know what it was, but I'm beginning to suspect that Azazel's defeat wasn't the end of the demonic plans for our realm." Return to Chamberlain Harlen. Chamberlain Harlen says, "This is grave news! I will need to speak to the King about this immediately. Please return to me again later as I am certain we will need your help in the coming days." Thus ends the first chapter of the Labyrinth Champion Quests. You will receive 5 billion experience, 2500 champion experience, and 155 gold. |
