Albion Quest

Are you getting tired of starting at the Royal Stable Master? Too bad...

The Royal Stable Master says, "All I've heard of clockwork is that it comes from the Labyrinth. And all I've heard of the Labyrinth isn't good."

Now you get to accept or decline the quest. A word of warning - this quest, unlike every other horse quest to date, isn't easy. It's probably soloable, given enough time, but in general you'll want to attempt it with a group. If that doesn't deter you, accept the quest and...

The Royal Stable Master says, "Still set on Clockwork, eh? That's Minotaur business. Luckily for you one of them has been seen around the Royal Library recently. That's just north of here, near Merlin's Tower."

You need to go talk to Artificer Skema. He's on the ground floor of the Camelot Castle (not the round table building; it's along the north side of that area, next to Merlin's Tower and the small building with the respec NPCs), in the room to your left as you enter.

Artificer Skema says, "I was part of a scouting mission to the Labyrinth. It was terrible. Beware of the [clockwork] monsters that roam those halls. Once they were our guards and servants, but no longer."

Artificer Skema says, "Now they serve a darker purpose. The machines have even turned cannibilistic, the mad ones destroyed most of the useful ones long ago. When I was scouting I found one of our old Clockwork steeds. Alas it seems to have been gutted, it's missing a major spring and several small but vital gears. I'm afraid the poor thing won't [run] again."

Artificer Skema says, "Hmm. I do suppose I could get it running again, with a little work. I cannot get the [parts] necessary for repairs, but perhaps you can, if you are willing to brave the labyrinth. If you do you had best bring strong companions."

Artificer Skema says, "I'll need about ten sets of Small Gears; those can be found on tinkered constructs or some sort of spider construct. I also need three Large Tension Springs from a Copper Construct or Construct Guard. Be very careful, Urimoo, and don't go alone."

Now head to the Labyrinth, to the - surprise - Clockwork section. The small gears are fairly easy to get by simply killing constructs that wander throughout most of the section (summoned/pet constructs don't count); the springs are harder to find. I got them from Construct Guards near Muxog - there's a light blue dot on the map on hub level one, south of the Hub (on the map; don't try going directly south from the hub to get there). That's where Muxog is located. Between that dot and the obelisk to the NW is a ramp with Construct Guards. Both gears and springs drop 100% of the time each time you kill one of the mobs.

When you have all of the items, return to Artificer Skema.

Artificer Skema says, "You've done a great service for us here, helping us recapture our history. I spent a large amount of the voucher money on the [repairs] but I think you should have what remains."

Artificer Skema says, "I never imagined I'd see the day when one of these would run again. Isn't she magnificent? Please take good care of her."

Artificer Skema will not only give you the Clockwork Horse, but also 5 platinum... making this, oddly, the least expensive of the horse quests.
