Labyrinth of the Minotaur Overview

Labyrinth of the Minotaur is Mythic's seventh (fifth retail) expansion, following Shrouded Isles, Foundations, Trials of Atlantis, New Frontiers, Catacombs, and Darkness Rising. It centers around the Minotaur, who have recently chosen to contact the people of Albion, Hibernia, and Midgard for aid. The Labyrinth of the Minotaur has been conquered by demons (in particular, Cerberus and Agramon make an appearance) and the Minotaurs' relics corrupted and turned to evil.

It is the first expansion (discounting New Frontiers) with a deliberate RvR focus - Mythic is not going to say that this expansion doesn't affect RvR. Labyrinth of the Minotaur (hereafter LotM, despite my personal preference of LoM) has the following features...

The Labyrinth zone: A giant dungeon beneath Agramon (how this meshes with Agramon having risen from the sea is unclear); the largest in any MMO, according to Mythic. The Labyrinth is an RvR zone but also has a large number of enemies, including encounters for the Mino-relics and mobs that drop the Mythical Items.

Mino-relics: Players can complete encounters in the Labyrinth to get these items. Rather than being placed in a keep and granting realm-wide benefit, these will be carried by a player. To get one you must either defeat an encounter in the Labyrinth or take one from another player - they will drop upon death. You cannot continue using the relics without participating in RvR - they must be fed realm points. So you must fight, and win, to retain the benefit of a Mino-relic. Players with a Mino-relic will be marked on the realm map, so having one is a danger as well as a bonus.

Minotaur: As usual when a new race appears in the story of an expansion, we can play them. The Minotaur is available to all three realms.

Mauler: A new class available to all three realms, the Mauler is a melee class with supporting magical abilities. Like the Vampiir, the Mauler does not gain power normally; unlike the Vampiir, they gain power when taking damage (as well as with powertap styles and spells).

The Mauler has three spell lines:
Power Strikes - Endurance and power taps, a DD, combat debuffs, and a multi-attack spell.
Magnetism - A variety of close-range crowd control spells.
Aura Manipulation - Self buffs and heal over time spells.

The Mauler has two weapon types:
Fist Wraps function like dual wielding, but you don't have to spec in a base weapon type.
Mauler Staff is a new staff type weapon, which uses neither caster nor Friar staves.

Unlike other classes, the Mauler must be unlocked. Your realm must take a number of relics to the center of Agramon at the same time, from which point on your realm will be able to create Maulers. Over time the number of relics required will decrease, so eventually you'll be able to create a Mauler no matter what.

Champion Levels: You can reach Champion Level 10. There are no new abilities available; instead you just 5 more of the already existing abilities. You will also get new items from a merchant in the King's Throne Room (omg ponies!), new titles, and hit points and power with each CL.

Mythical Items: Players now have a new item slot, the Mythical Item slot. Mythical items drop off of monsters in the Labyrinth. There are three tiers of items, each with a different Champion Level requirement (6, 8, and 10 respectively). They provide a variety of passive benefits, like a combination stat and cap increase (would add both 8 Strength and increase the Strength cap by 8), safe fall, realm point bonus, etc; all bonuses stack with all existing bonuses. Many drop off of regular mobs in the Labyrinth, and others drop off of named mobs.
