Greetings! I guess you are one of many
that desire to become a true master of the shadows?
<nods> I thought so.
There are many ways to achieve your goal
and this document will try to give you some insight upon which way that would
suit you specifically.
Race comparisons:
These stats are being extracted upon the
basis that you put +10 Str, Con, Dex while creating your character and also
calculated by assuming that you get +75 from your armor on every stat. (As this
part of the guide is mostly for those planning for maximum efficiency base-stat
wise for level 50).
Briton:
Maximum possible strength
without RAs: 160
Maximum possible dexterity
without RAs: 190
Maximum possible constitution
without RAs: 145
Maximum possible quickness
without RAs: 158
Efficient thrust WS calculating stats:
(160+190)/2 = 175
Racial resists being: +3% slash, +2%
crush, +5% spirit
Saracen:
Maximum possible strength
without RAs: 150
Maximum possible dexterity
without RAs: 210
Maximum possible constitution
without RAs: 135
Maximum possible quickness
without RAs: 158
Efficient thrust WS calculating stats:
(150+210)/2 = 180
Racial resists being: 2% slash, 3%
thrust, 5% cold
Inconnu:
Maximum possible strength
without RAs: 150
Maximum possible dexterity
without RAs: 200
Maximum possible constitution
without RAs: 145
Maximum possible quickness
without RAs: 148
Efficient thrust WS calculating stats:
(150+200)/2 = 175
Racial resists being: 2% crush, 3%
thrust, 5% heat, 5% spirit.
Note: Due to Inconnu being an SI race
they got 4 racial resists instead of 3.
Now you might ask yourself:
What are these charts supposed to tell me?
Strength enhances your weaponskill on both
your possible damage types although it's more efficient for those wielding slash
weapons, (Slash weaponskill is calculated purely on strength and spec) while
those using thrust weapons gains a bit less but still a worthwhile gain, (Thrust
weaponskill is partly based upon strength and partly based upon dexterity.
Dexterity enhances your weaponskill with
thrust weapons (as stated above) but it also gives you a boost to your only
defensive skill evade. (There isn't any known formula currently for
calculating evade chance due to the fact that evade takes in weaponskill vs.
weaponskill within it).
Constitution enhances the amount of damage
your character can withstand before dying, (It boosts your hit points). ;)
Quickness enhances two things for a
infiltrator.
- It boosts your evade the same way
dexterity does.
- It provides haste which is one of the
best things in the game there is for a melee class.
Conclusion:
If you are a pure
powergamer and wants 110% out of your infiltrator I would recommend the Briton
race (while it provides slightly less evade chance then the Saracen it provides
only a bit lower thrust WS but keeping a higher HP value anyway which is more
important then a few points of WS imo).
Saracens are probably the best unbuffed
solo infiltrators for RvR purposes at least due to their higher chance to evade.
Inconnu are mostly for people that wants to
be "lurifils" and likes to have a small-sized toon really.
Do not hesitate though upon seeing this.
The race choice is more a cosmetic one then a fate-concluding one. Choose the
race which you thinks suits you the best unless you want maximum efficency.
Note: If you intend to be a slash
infiltrator at level 50 as wel as during levelling then I truly recommend you to
choose the briton either way due to the higher WS (and believe me you will want
it) J.
If you are a beginner on the server or even
a total beginner to the game itself then I wouldn't recommend any form of
autotraining at all.
Slash is the damage type I found being
supreme for levelling purposes so I wont include any thrust templates for below
level 40 exping.
Infil spec
for levelling disregarding autotraining:
- Ah, so you have reached your 5th season and
wish to begin your training for real?
- If so, allow me to give you a few advices upon
how to prepare yourself with the knowledge to survive in the wilderness of our
fair realm Albion.

This above spec
is a example of a classic infil spec and it features capped stealth/envenom at
rr5 assuming capped +skill from a SC set.
Though there are
alternatives to this "classic" spec: (Will include some specs which are
only viable at higher RRs (rr6-7+).
One of them is
the "mercfil template" which instead of depending upon PA chain it tries to
promote damage-over-time by speccing 50 DW. A classic mercfil
template looks like this:
33 Stealth
1 Critical Strike
1 Slash
50 Thrust
50 Dual Wield
34 Envenom
(I do NOT promote this above spec due to it's lack of
utility although I added it to get a sense of completeness.)
My starting spec
on my own infiltrator was a slight modification to the above spec which I dubbed
the "tankfil" template.
34 Stealth
21 Critical
Strike
1 Slash
50 Thrust
50 Dual Wield
25 Envenom
(You lose 9
envenom points in the exchange for getting PA which still is capable of doing
decent damage)
NOTE: PA cap
with this spec mentioned above and rr6 + 3.5 speed guarded rapier gave me a
damage cap of 591 damage which isn't bad at all considering I switched it for 9
envenom spec points.
Pros:
Excellent damage-over-time making you a
hard person to kill in a 1v1 battle
21 CS makes you still able to perform
decent damage with your PA but still maintaining damage over time.
Dual Shadows (which is the level 50 Dual
Wield style) drains a greatly lower amount of endurance then the
Garrote/Achilles Heel combo does.
Cons:
If you face a buffed BD you are royally
screwed due to not having any kind of way to stun them.
You wont get lifebane nor the best str/con
debuff even if you ding rr10 (without respeccing that would be).
Now to delve some into the critfil spec:
(Use my levelling spec until you reach
RR6 and then respec to this one if you are looking for greater efficency and
still want to stab stuff).
Assuming RR6 for the template gives you a
possibility to spec:
34 Stealth
50 Critical Strike
1 Slash
50 Thrust
11 Dual Wield
31 Envenom (Lifebane is and will always
be overrated).
There is also a "ultimate" version of this
spec which is designed for a RR10 infiltrator:
30 stealth
50 Critical Strike
1 Slash
50 Thrust
21 Dual Wield
30 Envenom
Pros:
Totally awesome PA cap which allows you to one-shot casters with a decent crit.
The best spec there is for slaying
Bonedancers.
4 style evade chain to pull off after
Dragonfang.
Cons:
If you get popped without landing PA
against another stealther you are in deep shit (Note: Vanish doesn't count in
this case).
The end drain of
the Garrote/Achilles Heel chain is huge compared to using Dual Shadows and the
damage over time is lower compared to Dual Shadows anyway.
And then my own
current spec which was achieved through some slight autotraining (level 40-48).
(Some infils
claim that poisons are what make the assassin but I personally don't agree with
that).
31 stealth
50 thrust
50 Dual Wield
34 Critical
Strike
13 Envenom
1 Slash.
Pros:
The spec
combines the power of PA-CD AND Dual Shadows which allows you to both be
able to deal really good damage with your PA (I currently got 717 damage cap
on my PA using a 3.5 speed Guarded Rapier and being rr7 with capped SC set).
Everything else
has been typed before while describing the other specs.
Cons:
You have to be
rr7 for this to be even distantly viable in the first place J
Your DoT poison
isn't even worth using.
You will be more
or less restricted to using disease/str|con debuff while playing this spec.
Even though I
haven't promoted slash as a final damage type to choose I will still include a
possible level 50 spec if you feel drawn towards slash weapons. (Sidi
lightsabres etc)
Assuming the
spec is without autoing and strives after RR5 I would recommend:
35 Stealth
44 Critical
Strike
35 Envenom
50 Slash
18 Dual Wield
Pros:
You will be able
to do shish-kebab out of Shadowblades (literally)
You can wield
lightsabres (And as we all know that within DAoC looks > everything).
Cons:
In exchange
nightshades will be making shish-kebab out of you.
You wont have
the infamous 'DF4WIN' button anymore.
Lower
weaponskill if you compare against the possible weaponskill while wielding
thrust weapons instead of slashers.
Equipment
Now when you
have reached the epitome of your profession then you should also wear the
epitome of equipment. Allow me to advise you on how you are going to reach a
high potency with your crafted items:
