Below are some of my main tips for Minstrel's engaging in PvP and RvR for both solo and group.
Group tips
In groups your main job is to provide speed, ablative, interrupts and demezzing.
Sorcerers often forget to demezz or are too busy, sorc's have alot to do, demezz should be your job.
The method to providing interrupts is through the 4 insta's that you have, stun, 2xDD's and even confuse if the other 3 are down. Also while interrupting you should be using single target mezz on the healers/druids and any other classes that are causing significant damage to your group. When the situation is under control and you no longer need to do interrupts/mezz's only then should you enter melee.
During the entire time of PvP your ablative should be up this absorbs 70 damage for every person in your group every 6 seconds.
AE-Mezz is slow to cast and doesn't last as long as single target mezz this ability should be used very rarely.
Powersong is effective for PvE but only effective during the downtime for RvR, however with ToA powerfont is usually much better.
When entering a fight always start with speed of sound, in 1.78 speed of sound was changed so that even when speed warped the SOS still counters the movement imparing effects that CC can do.
Use Zephyr to get people/assist trains off your cleric's your job is to protect the healers above all else.
If you become too irritating druids/healers will demand the assist train targets you when they're good groups. When the assist train goes on you, use assist train and stand still for at least 8 seconds, if you stand still your own assist train finds it easier to attack there's. But make sure you start moving again before phase shift runs out or you will fall down without any defenses.
Remember to bind at Forest Sauvage bind stone so that if the supply chain is broken at one of your keeps you can still use your ML's to teleport yourself or your group back to your bind stone.
Solo tips
If you don't have a buffbot use darkness falls to your advantage camp the mid/hib section of DF (preferably mid as they're usually easier to control).
Don't be afraid to kill grey's, killing a grey usually makes a yellow con magically appear and if you don't kill the grey he will often report your position to some 50's. Grey's are as much the enemy as yellow's.
If it looks like you're losing a battle stun or zephyr the enemy away and run, it's better to run and live than stay, fight and die miserably.
If you've seen a enemy get buffed and you're unbuffed don't fight them you won't win unless they're a bad caster or unless you can stun+zephyr.
Use your stun before you use zephyr, in some situations you will find that stun is enough to kill enemies. However if stun isn't enough don't hesitate at using zephyr.
Ablative is as much your friend as it is in group battles.
Use SoS as a defensive ability, if you've used stun+zephyr already and need to escape as you're going to lose, use SOS, run as quick as you can and stealth, this will usually work as long as you don't run into another stealther.
Make sure you have at least IP2 this will give you a greater chance of beating assasins.
Run with end regen pots combined with tireless and speed 5 you can run at speed 6 for a long time to catch skalds/bards.
Get haste proc's put on your armour not ablative proc's, normal crafted ablative proc's only have 50% absorbption for 100 damage, your ablative chant is 100% absorbption.
You can get up to a level 60 pet (it depends on your realm rank and +instruments) if you're comfortable with twisting ablative+pet chant then get a pet if you can especially if it's a buffing pet they can be very handy especially healer pets.
Battler - This charge is AWESOME for solo situations use it as often as you can in melee battles.
Shades of Mist - Combined with your ablative buff the proc is excellent and very nice for solo situations.
Purge - Don't hesitate when purging a stun/mezz those few seconds of hesitation can be the decider between life and death.
