Go check out Prime!: Anyone interested in DAoC may want to check out Prime: Battle for Dominus. It's kinda like DAoC, but with scifi, and jetpacks, and Sanya.

Slow News Week
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 10/26/2002 3:42:30 PM
This has been one of the slowest weeks for Camelot-related stuff that I've seen in a long time. In fact, I'm just putting this update out to let you all know I'm not dead =) Tim has updated his Armsman Guide for us, and The Faithful updated their Paladin Tactics page. Other than that, there's been some minor behind-the-scenes stuff... but nothing huge. That's it for now.

Plethoric Pandemonium
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 10/18/2002 7:46:03 PM
O.K. Let's start off with the links. First, there's a new Rogue Guide by JC Smith, a new Cabalist website - Diseased's Matter Cabalist Page, Nick Yee updated his MMORPG Studies web page with some new interesting Camelot-related articles, and there's a new atlas in town - Kriyanna's Maps, who I believe has pretty much mapped all of Hibernia at this point. Also, Mythic seems to have fixed the Healer portion of their spells database, so the insta-cast spells are back in my pages, and in theirs. I fixed the broken link to Camelot Seer's magic resistance tables, and a few other broken links on the links pages & the FAQ. I added Race/Class tables to the Realm General Info pages, Albion Info, Midgard Info, and Hibernian Info. I also fixed a problem with the assassin poison lists - they no longer display ranges for any of the poisons. Lets see... I think that's about it. Until next time =)

The Friday Grab Something-other-than-a-bag
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 10/11/2002 8:56:55 PM
No, you're not insane. Yes, the Healer insta-cast spells are missing from my spells lists, and no, I don't believe they've been removed from the game, but they have been removed from Mythic's Spell Library, which is what this site eats to spit out the spell lists. I can do lots of nifty things with the spells lists, but I'd rather not begin forcefully adding entire spell lines by hand. I'd much rather Mythic fix their Spell Library, and then the Healer spells page will go back to normal.
In other news, if you run your camtest.exe file and download the Shrouded Isles stuff, you'll get a file in your charman folder called summary.txt that talks about the Necromancer & Reaver - stuff like what races can become them, etc. I went ahead and added that info, and a few other tidbits to the Necromancer & Reaver pages.

Read File Changes
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 10/9/2002 11:47:09 AM
Today I made some fixes to the Styles pages, and I wanted to talk about them for a minute. Mythic released a styles list around a year ago, and it's the same one everyone still uses - though Mythic's changed almost every single style since then. I've been updating them all along from reader feedback, but I don't think they'll be close to perfect until we get an official list of some sort, or until I can apply a Vulcan Mind Probe to someone at Mythic. Thing is... we'll probably be playing DAoC IV before I get a new styles list from Mythic, so if you're looking at the styles pages and see something in err, please let me know... it's probably the only way we'll get close to a workable list.
Second, there's a new link on the links page to Camelot Flow - whose author tells me that it's "a web-based utility to parse and graph/analyze optimal experience flow over time. It also figures out the levels of mobs you hunt and shows lots of other statistics." Yes - by God, we've found someone who speaks as cryptically as I do! Anyhow, the tool is totally sweet, and by sweet I mean cool, so check it out.

Compatibility
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 10/9/2002 10:26:23 AM
After a night of testing and bug fixes, the site should now work on: Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Netscape 6 or higher, Mozilla 1.1 or higher, Opera 6 or higher, and most anything based on the Mozilla engine. So, we're compatible with all browsers again, but you may have to download a newer version than the one you're using. As a note: the site is functional in earlier browsers, but extremely ugly do to formatting issues, and CSS incompatibility.
I updated the Albion class pages today by adding Inconnu to the lists of those classes that can have Inconnu as a race: Armsman, Cabalist, Infiltrator, Mercenary, Necromancer, Reaver, Scout, and Sorceror. For anyone that's in SI beta - here's a list of info I'm looking for. That list contains only the type of info I had approval to post during the original Camelot Beta, so don't worry about defiling the NDA =) Lok updated his Spellcrafting Theory and Limits Guide for us. Also, as far as the respec/auto-train issue ... the info I have on FAQ pg. 6 is correct now. I know it took two tries... sorry 'bout that.

Some is better than none at all
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 10/7/2002 7:43:49 PM
So, as you look around, you may notice the site looks a little different. Well, that's because I changed it =) I hope you enjoy the new look... I did plan on having it be a bit cooler, but Netscape doesn't support some of the funky stuff I wanted to do, and I know a lot of you out there use Netscape and Opera, so I'm sticking with this. Hopefully, the new site should be compatible with just as many browsers as it was before. If it's not, please let me know. In the mean time, not all the files are done uploading, so it may be a few hours before the site fully converts itself over. If you aren't seeing the new graphics, purge your browser cache, and reload the page.
Lastly, I was without Internet for the past 4 days, and let me use this space to send out a small warning. DSL eats it. Don't get DSL if you can help it - go for Cable Internet. DSL's upload is basically the same speed as a modem, and with DSL your speed depends on how far you are from the server. All indications are pointing to my server being located somewhere in the Rhegar Galaxy, as shown by my connection speed. I guess if you live next door to Verizon you'll be O.K., but for us normal people, Cable Internet is the way to go until they maintstream in-house gigabit ethernet connections.

Here's the dealio
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 10/7/2002 9:48:18 AM
I went ahead and checked the new layout in various browsers, and here's the scoop: If you're still using Netscape 4, and cannot upgrade for some reason, please let me know. Other than that, the site seems to work fine in Netscape 7, so if you needed an excuse to upgrade, here it is, because the site doesn't work in Netscape 4 or 6, and I'm not 100% sure why. I mean, it's useable, but it's not pretty =)
Also, after doing a quick search through my e-mail, here's a new link for you're reading enjoyment: Prissy's Alchemy Guide.

Reading is fundamentle
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 10/3/2002 9:40:52 AM
Today I've updated that new FAQ section on auto-training - it should be correct now in stating how one gets auto-trained =). I was also sent the values for the Healer's Celerity spell line, so even though Mythic doesn't have them, I do now. Also, Mythic updated their spell database, correcting the ranges on the Eldritch's Snare DD, so my lists have followed suit.
Lastly, I know some of you out there may be former NextGen readers, and/or current readers of PCGamer, and all those gaming magazines. Well, there's a new gaming magazine devoted to MMOGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Games) called "Massive Online Gaming." The cool thing about this magazine is that, no matter what MMOG you play, they *always* have entire sections devoted to them - for games like DAoC and EQ, you can expect like 10-15 pages of... creamy goodness =) At any rate, if you're lazy like me and only go to EB three or four times a week, you can order it online here.
