Mythic announced on their corporate website yesterday that they will use the EMotion FX 2 SDK, created by Mystic Game Development, in "all current and future games".
EMotion is a development tool that plugs into a graphics engine and can be used to create realistic character animations, particularly facial expressions. Here's hoping it's used in DAoC.

For a while, the DAoC community has been using a weapon speed calculator at Spydor's Web to figure out how fast they were swinging with various levels of quickness, haste, and MoA.
But, because the Spydor's Web version doesn't have separate boxes for ToA and normal haste, I made my own. Incidentally, I discovered an error in the MoA code at Spydor's Web that may have resulted in speeds lower than they should have been (though not by very much, and only when using MoA as well as haste).
You can find my calculator at http://www.classesofcamelot.com/misc/weapspeed.asp. Please note that it is ONLY a weapon speed calculator - it does not do anything at all with Dual Wield, as its Spydor's Web counterpart does. The formulas are as accurate as the experts in the DAoC community (namely Wyrd) can determine.

Edit: It's now working fine again. Note to self - make sure any new additions (even simple ones) work before posting news and sending it to other sites.

Decrease in max # of turrets an Animist can cast

I've been finding lots of goodies in my mailbox recently, so prepare yourself for a mildy scatterbrained update...
First, there's a new Necro website, the NecroGnomicon. It looks like the Crypt of Albion is down for good, so hopefully the NecroGnomicon can be the go-to site for everyone's Necro Needs!
Second, there's a new neat little tool developed by Open Book Productions called "DaoC Server Status". Basically, it's a little app that sits in your program tray, and shows you the current status of all the servers, with who owns DF, etc. Pretty handy for when you're offline and want to keep abreast of what's happening.
Third, even though it's been around for a while, we've never actually linked to this (what can I say, we're lazy.), but the Northern Reavers Char Planner is definately a decent alternative to the one over at Catacombs, and if you haven't used it before, you should check it out.
In related news, there's a spoof e-mail circulating regarding DAoC. It's in French, so we've got no idea what it says, but we know it's a hoax, so here's a heads up - don't give them your username and password... unless, of course, you just want to have fun with them and type in some random stuff, like we do (username:"hahahah" password:"fooledyou!").
Finally, alas, poor Andred is closing. Let us all bow our heads in a moment of silence.
