Go check out Prime!: Anyone interested in DAoC may want to check out Prime: Battle for Dominus. It's kinda like DAoC, but with scifi, and jetpacks, and Sanya.

SI Completion
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 8/29/2002 11:02:45 AM
I've now got the site completely ready for Shrouded Isles content, I just need the content =) I'm not sure if Mythic plans on having an SI Open Beta, but if they do, I'll try to get you the info on the new races & classes before official release so you can plan your new characters. In other news, there's a few more class titles up today, and a few new guild links on the links page. Lastly, I'm beginning a new project completely unreleated to Dark Age of Camelot, and I wanted to extend this offer to you guys first - I'm looking for a talented graphic artist with exeprience in fantasy art, PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro, textures, and the eagerness and time to participate in designing a site for a new MMORPG. The artist work would be a volunteer basis, however, if your looking to get into the website or gaming industry, having your art featured on a premier website is a good way to start =) If you're interested, shoot me an e-mail with an example of your work, or a link to your online portfolio.

Rolling Over The S Word
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 8/26/2002 3:43:51 PM
I've begun preparing the site for Shrouded Isles content, so all the new races and classes have been added, but the content for said new races and classes is next to nil for the time being. I probably won't have any concrete data until SI open beta, or release. So anyhow, if you see something that looks like , or anything in greenish text, you know you're looking at Shrouded Isles stuff. There's also some new class titles up today. Also, a little treat, I've added rollovers to all the links in the site. I realized with all the links on the class pages, rollovers might be a good thing to distinguish where you are. The base rollovers will be mist blue to wine red, the Shrouded Isles rollovers will be pale green to canary yellow, when they're ready. Unfortunately, Netscape 4 doesn't support these new text rollovers, but Netscape 4 users won't have lost anything either (you just won't gain the rollover effect). If you want, I believe NS 6 supports them, and the new Netscape 7 beta should as well.

Stuff n Things

Today, there are four new guides on the guides page - one HUGE indepth Hero guide by Bedroc, a guide to Coruscating Mines, and two guides to the different monsters in Sheeroe Hills. Also, there's a few new class titles up today ... but I must chastize everyone; the class titles have been slacking off recently, so you better send them in, or I'll have to... to... Blarg, just send 'em in =)

Today there is a new guide on the guides page - one by Ilda Thistledancer which explains the inner workings of Guard, Protect, Intercept and Engage with tips and strategies. Also, I fixed a small error in the Cleric Buff spec. spell line that was causing the regeneration buffs to be separated from each other, and another small error that was causing two Enchanter and Eldritch damage shield spells to be displayed as strange values. Turns out the Enchanter's pet damage shield spells have the same name as the other damage shields, and all the values were conflicting. Lastly, there's a problem with the Healer's Pac. spec spell line. It's not really my fault - Mythic has left the insta-stun and insta-mez spells off of their documentation, so when my scripts make my spell lists from their documentation, they aren't included. I could add them by hand using values from my old lists... but what would be better is if you play a healer and are interested in getting those spell details, send a letter to Scott Jennings and Sanya Thomas asking them to fix spells.XML, and when they fix their lists, ours will update accordingly.

CoC Companion
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 8/13/2002 9:53:47 AM
T.J. Sent me a new & updated version of the Classes of Camelot Companion today. If you're not familiar with the CoC Companion, it's a little tool to help out your character planning, and can be found in the files section on this site. T.J. also told me he's planning on a few new features for the Companion - some of the more advanced things that you see over at Catacombs, but without the necessity and lag of being online, because it's a local program. By the way, if you didn't know, Catacombs is down for a little while... I'm not sure how long. I believe they may have exceeded their bandwith usage when the respec patch came out, which is causing them some problems.
Secondly, I fixed some small problems with the spells lists - the Spiritmaster's PB Mez no longer shows a damage, run speed buffs are no longer listed as +150%, simply 150% to avoid confusion, recast delays are no longer capped at 255, and charm spells and songs now have a maximum NPC level column.

So, today there are a bunch of new class titles up (thanks everyone!) and I added all of the Midgard class trainers for Vindsaul Faste, thanks phaas. I also fixed an error where some of the strategy guides were not coming up when you clicked on them... turns out a gremlin got into my laptop and set the site to case-sensitive. Damn gremlins. Anyhow, I've eradicated the pest, and all should be normal, but if any of the guide links are still not working, please let me know. Also, I've added in poison lists for all the rogue classes that use envenom. These lists can be found under the Class Resources section of their class page, or under the Spells Lists pages. I also made some updates to the Midgard Axes styles.
Also, I added a section on using and recharging Charged Magic Items to the magic items section of the FAQ page 12. And lastly, there's a few more resource links on the links page to the DAoC Spoiler's Item Database and Quest Database, whereas previously I only linked to their Bestiary and Faction DB.
Finally, I've added a Site Search option which you can find at the bottom of the nav bar on your left.

A thank-you is in order
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 8/9/2002 1:28:21 PM
The new XML-driven spell lists are live today, and as far as I can tell, mostly bug free. There may be a few small typos or something, but the lists are up and look fantastic! The only thing we have left to do is automate the .html generation process, right now you have to manually run all the different scripts and change some of the file contents to produce the printed versions, etc. But you guys don't care about the specifics =) Enjoy the new lists, and I'd like everyone to throw a big thanks out to Eugeni Karpov, Dredmama of Camelot-Seer.com who was integral to this project, and who still hosts the database and scripts that generate my files. Eugeni and I worked together on the lists, but I could have never done it without him. If you'd like to visit his site, or send him an e-mail, all his information can be found at the top of each of the spells pages.

Edit: I lied. Looks like there's an error with recast timers being capped at 255. It should be fixed soon =)

All things changed.
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 8/7/2002 11:12:33 AM
Eugeni and I are still working on perfecting those spell lists, but thanks for all the feedback you guys sent me, there was some good stuff in there =). Anyhow, I fixed the FAQ pg. 9 where the armor resistance tables were. Turns out they looked ok on my screen, but a few people were complaining about the fonts being hard to read. Also, I added a link under the resistance tables for another high-quality armor resistance comparison chart submitted by one of our readers.
Secondly, at the bottom of the Nav Bar you will now find a link called "Guides." This will be a home base for all class guides on the site, plus it allows me to add guides to the site that are not class-specific. So if there's a leveling guide, or hunting guide, or whatever kind of guide that you'd like to submit, now you can =) If you've already submitted a class guide to me, take a look over the new guides page and make sure everything looks correct regarding your guide. There's also a few new class titles up today.
Lastly, I added in the new abilities Camouflage, Flurry, and Advanced Evade to the skills page, and on to the abilities lists of the classes that should receive them.

Today, theres some more class titles up, and a new link to Kirstena's Maps on the links page, but more importantly, I invite you to beta-test a project I've been working on for a few weeks: Intelligent Spell list via. Spells.XML

Here are the known issues:
Damage Adder/Damage Shield/Lifetap values rounded instead of exact
Pet/Charm Information Missing
PB AE vs. Targetted AE indistinguishable FIXED
DoT Cycle Length missing
Resistance Buff/Debuff titles ambiguous
The Cleric Mending Spec Line is slightly disarranged

Other than that, if you notice any problems, please let me know. What we did was take Mythic's spells.XML, dump it into MySQL, and then ran a series of PHP scripts on it to generate these HTML files. We've got a patch XML file we're trynig to load currently, because 3 of the 5 known issues are simply information Mythic did not release in Spells.XML. Once we get that patch XML file loaded and hopefully the other two problems fixed, I'll make them the default spells pages.

This project is kind of a community thing. I've been working with Dredmama (Eugeni Karpov) of Camelot Seer and am trying to make it so we can do the same thing over at DAoC Catacombs. There aren't any other sites I know of that have spells lists, but if you run a site, and would like to help out with this technology, give me a buzz. Besides the spells lists, there are a few more goodies that come with this type of technology - MySQL has a nice web-based front end that allows you to run searches on a given database, so we're trying to get it so you could go to a page, and use the program to display something like "All spells from Midgard that are matter-based." We have a prototype in place, but we need to do some further testing and security before we release it out to the public.

A Quick FAQ Update
Submitted by: Mistwolf on 8/2/2002 1:08:58 PM
I've updated the FAQ today with the new armor resistance tables, as well as a few other minor things. On page 9, I've placed the Camelot Herald's resist table and a link to a very nicely designed resistance breakdown and observation listing by one of our readers.
