Guide Home

Reavers were introduced to Dark Age of Camelot in the first expansion pack, Shrouded Isles. This guide is meant as a near-exhaustive resource for information about the Reaver in PvE. If there is something that you feel is missing, or is incorrect, you are welcome to email me.

The Reaver is a class most similar to the Champion, in that it is a melee/caster hybrid which uses debuffs. While the Champion focuses on making a single enemy feel the pain, the Reaver can make a number of enemies feel moderately annoyed. Although the class description of the Reaver names it as an "offensive hybrid", it is truly more of a "balanced hybrid" - meaning that while you can choose to be offensive, you can also do well with a defensive template.

The first pages of this guide are devoted to information you need to know about the Reaver in general - what things do, what skills they have, and so forth. Second, the guide covers the creation and development of your character - creation and specialization. Lastly, hunting strategies and locations are covered. This guide does NOT cover RvR strategies, though some use of Realm Abilities in PvE is included. The reason for this is simple - I play on Pendragon, and strategies that work in Pendragon RvR may or may not work on other servers.

Updates:

9/12/05: Updated the Epic Armor page for 1.79 changes.

11/9/04: Updated the MLA page, as well as the Artifacts page. Minor changes to other pages to correct some wrong or missing information.

6/4/04: Added a page about the New Frontiers Realm Abilities available to the Reaver. This page will be updated as the beta goes on, as I'm sure things will be changed...

1/24/04 v2: Added a Trials of Atlantis section - a Master Levels page, an Artifacts page, and a Legendary Weapons page.

1/24/04: Over time, this guide has become more focused on the Flexible Reaver. This is partly because most Reavers use Flexible, but partly because I do - and while I have spent time playing with other specs, I don't consider myself qualified to write about them. Styles page has been updated with analyzing of the Flexible style chains and other notable styles in the Flex line. Looking for someone to do the same for the other specs. Removed Crypt of Albion from the links page, as it has been dead for a while now.

10/8/03: As should be obvious, made a copy of the guide here at Classes of Camelot. I'm not entirely certain how long I'll continue paying for my own web hosting, and I'll feel better if there's a backup out there. With the move comes change - for one thing, since there are spell, realm ability, and style lists here at CoC that are updated independently of the guide, I'm just linking to them.  The style, realm ability, and spell pages will now just be for analysis, rather than also providing gigantic lists. The move also necessitated a layout change, since CoC has its own handy navigation menu off to the left - so now the navigation is at the top of every page. All of the pages have been trimmed in size, and most have been updated in some fashion (though nothing major; mostly just accounting for new info). The hunting locations page now uses a better method to open the pop-up descriptions, so you don't have to reload the page just to open the new one.

9/27/03: Added a resistances column to the race page; noted that the Inconnu have an extra 5% racial resist. Minor changes to the stats page since there's no longer a hard stat cap at 300.

7/17/03: More purely formatting changes... the Post-20 Kill Tasks table is now sortable by level, NPC, item, and so forth.

7/14/03: Not dead just yet. I made some small layout changes... the links to your left are now in nifty collapsible menu form, for example. That should help those of you with less than 1024x768 resolutions; you should no longer have to scroll down to see the entire thing.

5/22/03: I actually did this a while ago, but didn't remember to add a note here. There's a newer version of the Reaver Guide to Go, which is at http://www.emeraldcircle.com/reaver_guide.zip. It includes instructions on how to install and edit, as well as most of the files - but doesn't include the epic armor pictures, as they just about doubled the size of the thing.

4/30/03: Added a new auto-training spec - "Slash + Bash". Also, I've put all the files that make up this guide into a ZIP file, which can be found here. If you are at a fansite and want to add the Reaver Guide, this should make it a little easier to do so. Just download the ZIP file (it's about 580k), extract the files (they'll be about 860k total), stick them in a directory somewhere on your server, and there you go! Style information is now embedded in the web page, as well (rather than being a separate .CSS file), so you can change much of the style of the guide with only a few changes.

4/16/03: Combined the individual pages into one complete page, which other sites may use if they wish to include the guide on their own site. Please let me know before using it, however, so I can at least know where it is. You can view the new page here.

3/8/03: Added one normal template, revised two others, and added an Auto-training templates section including the first of those templates. Added some 40+ hunting locations. Hunting location names now open a new window with details about that location. Protect II and III levels changed. Updated Debt to Arawn description. Added Realm Ranks chart page and Post-20 Kill Tasks page in the "Miscellaneous" section.
