Guide Home
Most people these days have a very simple answer to the question of where to
hunt: Task Dungeons! Task dungeons are predictable, mindless, unchallenging -
the very definition of a grind. Those things also make them fairly steady
experience, and then they provide a nice bonus when completed.
However, regardless of how easy the experience is, three things make task
dungeons not worth it, in my opinion:
-
The monsters inside are neither vulnerable nor resistant to any types of
damage. This not only takes away the benefit Flex Reavers have in being able to
use either Slashing or Crushing damage, it means that they aren't vulnerable to
your Spirit-based spells.
-
The camp bonus is a static 50% unless you bring someone along with you.
However, bringing more people reduces the benefit of the 'grindy' factors of
the TDs. You can get up to 100% camp bonus in outdoor zones and 120% in
dungeons, which in my opinion makes up for the loss of task completion bonus.
-
They're boring. Very, very boring. Spending time in these will greatly reduce
your fun, regardless of how much experience you're getting out of it.
Task dungeons are always a good place to fall back on if you don't want to
travel far, or want a grind, or can't find anywhere else good to go... but
I think there are better places.

Corpse Torches (Night)Corpse torches are floating balls of fire, which
spawn only at night in a small village east of Avalon. They are
particularly useful because of the jewelry-type items they drop: cloaks,
rings, bracers, necklaces. Some of these items can be extremely useful
even into the later levels. They also have incredibly good cash drops,
considering their level. The village is dangerous, however, because
occasionally a Drakoran patrol comes through. And this patrol occasionally
changes its route, so few places are safe.
Undead Gangers, Decaying Marshmen (Day)During the day, the village east of Avalon has a nice
mix of ghostly (undead gangers) and zombie-like (undead gangers and
decaying marshmen) mobs. Both types of mobs can drop chain and plate
armor, along with various weapon types - though only rarely flexible. The
Drakoran patrol passes through during the day as well, and does not follow
a single course every time. It is best to attack and then retreat to the
northern or western edges of the town, rather than staying in the town
itself.

Caer CaddugCaer Caddug is, from the outside, the sister city to
Avalon. Unlike Avalon, though, it is not a separate zone, and is filled
with undead. Levels spread from the low 40s to over 50, and loot is
equally varied - not to mention pretty valuable. It is difficult to
survive within the city until the upper 40s, but the fringes are
relatively safe.
Halls of the CorruptThe Halls of the Corrupt are Albion's "RvR dungeon",
and as such can be dangerous because of things other than the mobs.
Pathing and aggro are additional problems, if other realms aren't enough.
However, they also have plentiful undead and are one of the few non-SI
areas which use the Random Item Generator. Coin and sellable loot also
come in large amounts, particularly for a non-SI area.
BarrowsThe Barrows are filled
with undead and demons, and so are ideal for a Spirit-wielding Reaver. The
loot, since it is not RIG-based, is not as useful as that of the SI areas;
especially since among the sets of items, Reaver items have not been
added. However, as a dungeon the spawn is fast and the bonuses last long.
There are many places within the Barrows that a solo player can
survive.
